The last first round tie in the Hunters Estate Agent Premier League Cup between Clifton Alliance and Whitkirk resulted in victory for Clifton.
Clifton's formidable 274 for 8 total was graced by solid knocks from Darren Reeves (59), Simon Dwyer (59) and Darren Barton (49).
Whitkirk's S Pickles with an aggressive 64, together J Colley (33) and M Tomlins (27), kept them up with the run rate. After 38 overs they were well-placed on 178-4. But once Pickles departed wickets fell regularl. The Whitkirk innings slowed and they were dismissed for 224 leaving Clifton with a trip to Acomb in the last eight.
The last two semi-finalists in the Edward Readman Trophy were decided when Carlton Towers were victorious against Sessay.
Stuart Coleman (72) paved the way in Carlton's 191-9 total in which Richard Till took 3-36.
N Harrison (41), J Flintoff (38), and D Atkinson (29) were the only batsmen to break the shackles of the Carlton attack, whose R Watson claimed 4-29.
In the last of the quarter-finals Castleford belied their lowly position to defeat Scarborough. Chasing 169 in which Hodson top-scored on 48, Scarborough perished for 130 to tee up a semi-final at Carlton Towers.
