HMS York is sending in the Royal Marines to raise funds for a city specialist school.
The band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Scotland is to play a second charity concert in York for Galtres Special Needs School, the ship's chosen charity.
Paul Porter, commanding officer of HMS York,
arranged the concert for the Grand Opera House on Sunday, at 7.30pm when the audience will be treated to a wide-ranging programme of traditional and contemporary pieces.
And the entire ship's crew will be marching through the York on Saturday as they exercise their freedom of the city. The ceremony begins at Duncombe Place at 11am when the crew will march through the streets 'with bands playing and bayonets fixed'.
The ship sailed from Portsmouth with the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Irene Waudby, and Evening Press competition winner Paul Fitzpatrick, of Brayton, Selby, on board.
Tickets for Sunday's concert are £7.50 or £5 for concession and available from the Grand Opera House Box Office on 01904 671818.
