THE highlight of this week's round of matches was the clash between Aldby Park and Woodhouse Grange, both two points behind leaders Yapham.
The game produced a run spree as 344 runs were scored for the loss of only six wickets.
Woodhouse Grange set a formidable 170-4 with Stuart Craven making an impressive 79, Howard Johnson 38 and C Gladstone 24. Andy Milner saw the Aldby reply off in good style with an effortless 66.
Peter Aconley 57no and Paul Milner 21no guided Aldby to victory and a double over the champions.
Yapham had little difficulty in recording a seven-wicket success over bottom club Wheldrake. The visitors reached 116-4 with N Thurlow 52 and Simon Kidby 32no the backbone of the innings. Dick Wright 60 and Steve Addison 25no eased Yapham home.
Bubwith returned to winning ways by defeating Heworth by 55 runs. Neil Readman 35 and Neil Pratt 27 helped Bubwith post 123-4 with Jason Gatus claiming 2-28. G Moore then caused problems taking 5-21 as only Gatus with 40 reached double figures as the Heworth innings closed on 68-7.
Wilberfoss produced the shock result when they recorded their first victory of the season.
Batting first Pocklington were led by Rod Hinch 45 and Ted Donkin 33 to a total of 114-4. The reliable Geoff Room, with an unbeaten 53, supported by Brian Room 34, enabled Wilberfoss to reach their target for the loss of only two wickets.
In division two Stamford Bridge inflicted only the second defeat of the season on leaders Middleton in a closely fought contest. Chasing Stamford claimed victory on the last ball.
