A unique, sterling silver, miniature version of record-breaking locomotive Mallard was presented to York's National Railway Museum.
The '0' gauge version of the world's fastest steam locomotive was handed over on the anniversary - July 3 - of its world record run between Peterborough and Grantham in 1938.
The model, thought to be worth about £15,000, was commissioned by the Sheffield Assay Office to commemorate the museum's Silver Jubilee.
It was hand-made by Sheffield-based British silverware designer Graham Rich, and took more than 200 hours to complete. More than a dozen former Mallard drivers, firemen and engineers were gathering to help celebrated the occasion.
