THE financial situation York RL Club found itself in after last season would, to most people, suggest it was time to call it a day, at least while they had some dignity intact.
But no, they just ignored common sense and started this season with virtually no future whatsoever.
Players were leaving almost at the start of the season. The CVA situation led to professionals leaving and amateurs coming in. They tried their best but it just hasn't worked.
Even if by some miracle York were able to get a team together we don't have a stadium which would enable York to get into the Super League as Hunslet and Dewsbury found out to their cost. Apart from Widnes the rest of the NFP clubs just don't seem to have any future.
As for Lee Crooks I don't know why he came to this club. The man has given 110 per cent and then to be told he would more or less have to reapply for his own job is nothing short of obscene.
