Fulford became a traffic 'no-go' area as roadworks at the Broadway junction created queues stretching back to Fishergate and south to the A64.

Is this a forerunner of what to expect when the Germany Beck development of up to 700 homes is complete?

The planning application for these new homes includes only one road open to the public.

How will the proud new home-owners feel when they try to drive on to the A19, (Fulford Main Street) to finally realise they only have one exit available to set off on their journeys to York or, indeed, anywhere? In addition, flooding is not anticipated as a problem. Where are these local developers from?

This new source of traffic will be joining vehicles from Fordlands Road. An estimate has been made of a 1,000 home cul-de-sac. The new road junction lay-out proposes a three-lane width roadway to create a second junction very close to the Fordlands Road residential home.

A new junction has been required at Fordlands Road/A19 for some time, but equally there has been considerable concern about the impact on the Fordlands Road open space, the only play area safely convenient for Fordlands Road, Selby Road and Main Street families.

Assurances have been given that the play area was safe from the Germany Beck development because the road would be across the beck. But a slip-road for south-bound traffic will be running closer to the open space than previously described.

Fulford must not not to ignore the planning application. Don't rely on others to make their voices heard when commenting to the City of York Council. Use every chance to voice your concern.
