HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a fun-packed day at York College in a bid to help reach the £2 million mark for the St Leonard's Hospice 2000 Appeal.
The community fun day is one of the major fundraising events in the hospice summer calendar - and this year was no exception.
With only £22,000 to go, the day generated yet more much-needed funds, though a final total is not yet to hand.
Janet Morley, fundraising manager for the hospice, said: "It was a wonderful day. There was a huge variety of stalls and lots of entertainment for all ages.
"We are very grateful to York College and everyone who helped and supported us in any way."
Staff, students and supporters of the hospice prepared for months for the event and even the theft of a sign advertising the event did not stop the day being a great success.
Featured at the event were live music, arts and crafts, a furniture restoration exhibition, dozens of charity and commercial stalls, a barbecue, a bouncy castle and other children's activities, cream teas, beauty treatments, plants and cakes.
Donations for the final countdown can be sent to the St Leonard's fundraising office at 14 York Road, Acomb, York, YO24 4LU, or dropped off in an envelope marked for the attention of Emma Harrison, St Leonard's Hospice 2000 Appeal, at the front desk of the Evening Press in Walmgate, York.
Or you can call into one of the shops, which are in Fourth Avenue in Tang Hall, The Village in Haxby, Waterloo Lane in Pocklington and the York Road shop in Acomb.
If you are organising or taking part in any activities in the coming weeks to raise money for the appeal, contact Emma Harrison in the Evening Press newsroom on 01904 653051 ext 314 or email on emma.harrison@ycp.co.uk
