Dunnington are firmly on course for a place at Lord's after defeating Ashington by 122 runs in the Group Final of the ECB National Club Knockout.

Dunnington decided to bat first on a flat wicket and made an excellent start with Simon Kellett (71) and Hamed Khan (67) putting on 145 runs for the first wicket.

The partnership ended when Khan was caught and then Kellett was given out lbw two runs later.

This lead to Collis King and Alvin Kallicharran coming to the crease and King got off to his usual aggressive start and moved Dunnington to 240 for the 3rd wicket.

King scored his 61 runs from only 45 balls. Kallicharran (46no) and Harwood Williams (5no) took the Dunnington score to 265 for 3.

Ashington got off to a strong start, putting on 48 runs for the first wicket, before John McHale made a breakthrough getting Neil Wood (30) out lbw.

Ashington's innings then collapsed with only two other batsmen making respectable scores - Bruce Storey (23) and Mike Levison (36).

The game saw some fine wicket-keeping from Dunnington's Paul Miles who made three great stumpings.

Dunnington bowled Ashington out for 143.
