A MAJOR exhibition of one of the country's fastest growing art forms is currently under way in an East Yorkshire town.
Creative textiles, which includes embroidery, quilt making and cushion crafting, used to be seen as a painstaking pastime followed by few people.
Recently, though, its popularity has grown and there are now regular exhibitions across the UK and a number of prestigious national competitions.
And, according to Jane Rollason, pictured, organiser of the current show at the Pegasus Studio in Howden, some of the work being exhibited there could go on to win prizes. It has all been made by students at the adult education classes run in Oaklands School, Acomb, and includes wall hangings, quilts and cushions. "The group is very vibrant, includes all age ranges and has produced some excellent original work," said Jane.
"The exhibition as a whole is quite spectacular."
The studio is open between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, ring 01757 289529.
