IT is good for York to have the opportunity to say thank you to the police officers who serve our city. That opportunity came at a ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Gary Barnett presented 22 commendations during the reception. Some acted as a reminder of the dangers policemen and women face on our behalf. Others saluted the determination shown by officers in the pursuit of justice.
The ceremony also honoured civilian staff and members of the public. All their endeavours have made this a safer and happier community, and we add our own tribute today.
