A businessman who lived in a village near York has left £185,000 in his will to a Yorkshire children's hospice.
John Coakill, from Bishopthorpe, left his personal legacy to Martin House Hospice for Children and Young People, at Clifford, near Wetherby.
His legacy goes to the hospice's A Place For Us appeal which is aimed at raising £2 million to build a unit especially for teenagers in the garden of Martin House.
Maureen Burns, fundraising manager at the hospice, said: "Mr Coakill's thoughtful and substantial bequest to Martin House will help us to build a new teenage unit. The young people who will use the new accommodation will benefit greatly from the increased independence they will experience and we are grateful to Mr Coakill."
