CHRIS Middleton's Yesterday Once More feature about his long involvement with the East Coast rail line (June 25) will have been of special interest to those like myself, who have an interest in the rail industry.
Chris commended GNER for establishing a daily through service between Hull and London last year. GNER have operated a daily through service for some years. I think Chris may have intended to refer to Hull Trains, who introduced three daily trains each way, between the two cities.
All are routed via Selby, which has put the town firmly back on the rail map, for travel to the south.
It will be interesting to see the extent to which the Strategic Rail Authority allow the Hull Trains service to develop, in the wake of future upgrades to the East Coast route.
