Fine bowling from James Pringle proved the bedrock of York Senior League U17s' conquest of their AireWharfedale Senior League counterparts in a Joe Lumb match at Stamford Bridge.
Pringle finished with a decisive five for 22 as York won by 45 runs.
He was also a central figure in a bizarre incident when during his brief innings of 20 umpire Alan Robinson was poleaxed by a ball thrown in by a fielder.
However, after some attention Robinson was able to continue, his colleague at the other end correctly calling a dead ball as York scrambled two runs.
York won the toss and elected to bat first, but were soon in trouble.
Nathan Briggs (Clifton Alliance) and Carl Berens (Bedale) were both in the pavilion with just nine runs on the board.
Guy Darwin (Bedale) steadied the innings when joined by Pringle.
The recovery continued, Darwin eventually retiring hurt with his score on 33.
The home lower order then displayed grit to post worthy contributions from Howard Johnson 20, Matthew Beckett (Stamford Bridge) 27, Luke Jennison (Scarborough) 33 and Richard Bentley (Thirsk) 20 to take York to 188 for nine.
AireWharfedale's reply never got going with four of the opposition batsmen back in the pavilion for only 40 runs.
The attack of Pringle and Alister Wray kept making regular inroads and as the run-rate increased to nearly eight an over Pringle's second spell yielded a double-wicket maiden.
Wray was the eptom of tightness at the other end with two for 19 off nine overs as the visitors finished 143 all out.
