Q I keep hearing people at work talking about NLP. What is NLP?

A Neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP as it is known, is the science of communication, both with the self and with others.

It also allows us to model the way outstanding achievers think and act, thus achieving greater success ourselves.

Among other things NLP explores how we think, how we learn, why we get angry, and what gives us pleasure. It also helps us to discover both others and our own preferred forms of communication.

NLP has certain basic principles that must be entertained in order to draw the most effective outcome from other people and ourselves.

These principles are called presuppositions, beliefs for which there is no proof.

Some of the more popular presuppositions are:

- Everyone is doing the best they can with the resources and information they have available.

- You are in charge of your mind and therefore your results.

- There is no failure, only feedback.

- Projection is perception, (fake it till you make it).

- We either have all of the resources we need, or we can create them.

- Anything is possible, if you are committed enough.

- Everyone has the power to be more than they are right now.

You could try adopting one or two of them in the next few days and watch the reaction you get.
