The two opposing overseas players both hit centuries aas Hornsea won a high scoring game with style at New Earswick to open a 36 point lead at the head of Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League division three.
New Earswick's Australian Andrew James hit 113 but found himself on the losing side when fellow countryman Michael Johnstone responded with an unbeaten 130 to take Hornsea to a seven wicket victory.
New Earswick totalled 240 for five as Johnston knocked up his second century of the campaign. Hornsea replied with a matchwinning 242 for three.
Second-placed Malton and Old Malton won by seven wickets at home to third-placed Heworth II. Dan Foxton took five for 47 as the visitors were dismissed for 136. Tony Linsley hit 44 for Malton before Chris Hudson finished off the job with an unbeaten 56.
Hovingham got the better of a high scoring draw after reaching 223 for five at Bolton Percy thanks mainly to an unbeaten 95 from Richie Brown. Phil Ryan hit 51. Bolton Percy's Jamie Rigby hit 65 and Jonty Rounthwaite took four for 47 as Bolton moved to 181 for seven.
Heslington banked full batting points with 224 for seven in their drtaw at home to bottom of the table Osbaldwick, Andy Ezard blazing the trail with an unbeaten 80. Chris Dower blasted 56 off only 37 deliveries.
Andy Hall then hit 58 for Osbaldwick, Philip Hall 37 not out and Stuart Hall cracked 51 off only 33 balls, but Osbaldwick were unable to gain their first win of the season. Heslington's Mick Firth took three for 64 to confirm him as the division's leading wicket-taker.
Woodhouse Grange II got the better of a draw against Londesbrough Park. Lee Wild hit 85 and Mark Burton 56 as Grange made 226 for nine. In reply, Simon Dodd fell one short of his half century. Londesbrough clung on for a draw at 157 for nine.
