Pickering skipper Andrew Grayson was the hero in a dramatic win at home to Malton and Old Malton in division five of Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League.

Malton were dismissed for 119 and then Pickering, whose Peter Rivis made 41, were struggling at 80 for seven.

David Bradshaw took seven for 59 and five were needed for victory with the last Pickering batsman at the crease. Grayson steered his side home by one wicket with 17 not out, a result which maintained Pickering's lead at the top.

Selby overtook Stillington's score of 214 for seven and are now seven points behind Pickering. Stuart Perrin made 60 for Stillington but Steve Whisker hit 66, Andy Jarvis 51 and Kev Lamb 47 in Selby's 218 for three.

Thorp Arch and Boston Spa bounced back from their thrashing of the previous weekend to record their first win of the season. New Earswick were dismissed for 63 against Simon Ball (3-23), B Buchanan (4-18) and Graham Casey (3-14). Thorp Arch skipper Matthew Fraser then scored 34 to lead his side to victory.

Cawood had only three senior players available for the match against Stamford Bridge, Bob Paddison, Andy Warner and Miles Taylor being augmented by eight players aged 14 or under.

Paddison provided the backbone of Cawood's innings, hitting a six and six fours in his 55 to help Cawood reach 112 for five. Stamford Bridge then took full advantage of a weak Cawood attack to win by nine wickets in 14 overs. John Hetherton jnr made 47 and Dave Chaplin 46 not out.

Hovingham's James Ransome took six for 29 in 23 overs but Bolton Percy made 151 eight. John White then took four for 20 and Peter Atkinson three for 12 as Hovingham were shot out for 79.

Mal Harrison made 59 and Adam Thomas 63 as home side Pocklington were dismissed for 189 by Heslington, whose Paul Raper took six for 76. Heslington then opted for a draw from the outset and meandered to 85 for five in their 45 overs, Raper making 37.

Richard Wentworth's third five wicket haul, this time six for 22 in 13 overs, had Wilberfoss all out for 56 as a preamble to a ten wicket win for Sessay.

Civil Service are still looking for their first win after losing heavily at Tadcaster Magnet, who took full batting points as they made 202 for seven before declaring after 42 overs.

Kevin Wakefield was top scorer with 63 and then took six for 12 as Service crashed to 123 all out.
