PANTOMIME lovers queued through the night to make sure they got the best seats for this year's show.
More than 150 people queued patiently outside the Theatre Royal as tickets for Jack And The Beanstalk went on sale today.
The first up was a man who we cannot name because he is surprising his family. He arrived at 4am.
Next in line was Robert Phillips, of Haxby, who arrived at 4.10am. He has been queueing through the night for first day tickets for 14 years. He was buying tickets for his wife and daughter.
He said: "Everyone at the front of the queue knows one another. We meet up every year buying panto tickets and it's always a competition as to who can be the first in line."
The next five were all buying tickets for their grandchildren. Madge Lister, of Boroughbridge, third in line, said, with a grin: "The grandchildren are all tucked up safely in their beds, while us grannies are sat out in the cold, queueing for them!"
