PAINTINGS created by York primary school children are being given pride of place at York Railway Station.
Pupils at Knavesmire Primary School and Dringhouses Primary School were invited to paint pictures on a railway theme to be framed and hung inside GNER's family waiting room on platform seven.
Ten children, aged between five and ten, have had their pictures chosen to go on display.
Mike Staff, GNER station business manager, presented the children with first-class rail tickets to reward their artistic handiwork.
He said: "We are very proud of our family waiting room and delighted that the children have been able to help brighten the walls with their lovely, colourful paintings."
GNER has refurbished the family waiting room ready for the busy summer season. New carpet has been laid, new furniture installed and the room has been linked into the station closed circuit television monitoring system.
