Muja Farewell, who finished fifth in the big race at York last Saturday, can take the major honours at Ascot tomorrow.

The filly, trained near Thirsk by David Barron, goes for the £25,000 Palan Handicap and, in the hands of Kevin Darley, is fancied to oblige for a group of owners which includes her breeder, former champion jockey Willie Carson.

Muja Farewell, a smart juvenile last season, was having her first run of the new term on Knavesmire and, under the circumstances, ran a blinder to finish just behind the placed horses in the William Hill Trophy after showing all her previous dash.

Reverting from six to five furlongs tomorrow should suit Muja Farewell.

Sonatina should not be overlooked in the opening race, the London Clubs Fern Hill Handicap.

Pip Payne's filly won both her starts last season and made an encouraging reappearance at Thirsk last month when finishing a close-up third behind Black Knight and Palatial after being short of room in the closing stages.

Ranin, winner of her last two races, appears to be on the upgrade and could complete a hat-trick by winning the Milcars New Stakes.

Generous Ways, far from disgraced on his return to action at Ayr recently, has good prospects of winning the Owen Brown Handicap for the second successive year. Willie Supple's mount is awarded my Nap vote.

At Redcar tomorrow, Middleham trainer Mark Johnston, who was successful in yesterday's Gold Cup with Royal Rebel - his third winner of the week at Royal Ascot - can lift the £12,000 Tetley's Bitter Handicap with Eurolink Artemis.

Michael Roberts' mount has struck form with a vengeance and looks sure to make a bold bid in this televised contest.

Channel 4 are also covering the £10,000 Tote Scoop6 Handicap, in which Mister Mal, a good second to Sartorius at York last weekend, has excellent prospects of going one better.

Up at Ayr, Channel 4 are showing four races, including the Tripleprint Handicap in which My American Beauty has a chance second to none.

Tim Easterby's filly returned to form with a decisive win at Pontefract recently and goes particularly well on the prevailing fast ground.

Fiori, winner of the Doubleprint Handicap 12 months ago, has been running well enough to suggest that an encore could be completed by Patrick Haslam's versatile gelding.

In the Bonusprint Handicap over seven furlongs, it would be unwise to overlook the claims of Hand Chime.

The Newmarket raider is trained by William Haggas, who won this prize last year with Peacock Alley. Hand Chime was slightly disappointing at Goodwood last time, but had previously shown that he was coming to hand and returning to the sort of form, which saw him rattle-off a handful of races last season.

Kelburne is improving at a rapid rate of knots and it would come as no surprise to see Ian Semple's four-year-old complete a hat-trick of wins by landing the Bonusphoto Handicap. Fergal Lynch will be in the saddle.
