HELLO, folks. Evening Press here.
You'll all be glad to hear that I've been getting my fair share of "jet fuel" in these last few weeks.
That's what my trainer, Tim Etherington, calls the food I've been eating recently, which is a special mix for racehorses.
Of course, being a professional sportswoman, I'm not allowed to go out for curries, Chinese meals or even a McDonald's, but although my meals lack a little bit of taste they are very healthy.
The head lad here at Wold House Stables, Les Hart, sorts out my food and, while he might not be a qualified an a la carte chef, he certainly knows what a horse needs in his or her diet.
My meals comprise a kind of muesli mix of nuts, oats, peas and stuff like that plus I get mineral and vitamin supplements, all designed to get me into tip-top physical condition for when I race.
I must admit I occasionally feel like phoning for a take-away but I realise I have to make sacrifices if I want to become a top-drawer racehorse. And, like most animals, if I really didn't like my food, I wouldn't eat it, so I'm not going to complain.
Apparently, when I was a baby I ate a different kind of food, known as yearling feed, which is probably the equine equivalent of Farley's Rusks or mashed bananas. But I've grown out of that now and eat this specially made racing mix - the "jet-fuel" - which helps to give me the energy and power to run faster.
Les says that when I eventually stop racing, I'll probably go on to a cool mix feed, which is slightly different, and then there are other kinds of feeds for when you start to breed and/or get older. I suppose the human equivalent of that food would be sprouts, malt-loaf and humbugs.
Anyway, best go, I can hear my tummy rumbling.
Regards,
Evening Press.
