Police marksmen were called out after two sheep were killed by large dogs running loose over farmland in Stockton-on-the-Forest early today.
Supt John Lacy of York Police said the sheep had been "ravaged" by the dogs, one a labrador and one a large black and tan dog.
The police were called out to the farm, next to Forest Park Golf Club, at 7.30am and found that two sheep had been killed. The dogs were caught and were being held by the dog warden.
