Hundreds of people around the city joined in the Yellow Day celebrations as St Leonard's Hospice announced that there is just £33,000 to go to the £2 million target.
Mr Yellow visited schools and businesses around York and helped people celebrate yesterday's special day to raise money for the hospice.
Even First York buses went yellow as staff at the Park and Ride in Askham Bar raised money in memory of a colleague, Eric Wakefield, who died in the hospice.
The final countdown to the £2 million target has been an enormous success, and in just three weeks the initial target of £65,000 to go has been virtually halved.
