Detectives have a new name and a new motive to investigate after 42 people came forward with information to help them solve the baffling murder of David Williamson.
The calls came in yesterday evening after the killing was featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.
Most were described as "intriguing" rather than "exciting" but several indicated that villagers knew the identity of the killer but were too afraid to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Boynton, who appeared on the programme, said today: "If people are too frightened to come forward and they do have information they can contact us in the strictest confidence and we will make arrangements to meet them well away from the village where they will feel safe."
Meanwhile police are also looking for information on an old blue Volvo, possibly B registration, seen driving around Huby at around 9.40pm on March 25, the night before Mr Williamson was found lying by the road with a blow to his head.
The driver appeared to be lost or looking for something and the car was later seen in Sutton-on-the-Forest, where Mr Williamson lived.
