The final of the Yorkshire County Bowling Association's Inter District competition for the Walter West Trophy took place on the Railway Institute green between Districts 8 and 6.
Qualification took place on West Bank Park with all districts drawn into two groups and the winner of each going to the final.
Group One: No. 8 16pts, No. 7 13, No. 5 13, No. 3 6.
Group Two: No, 6 20pts, No. 2 14, No. 4 10, No. 1 4.
A close final was decided 44-41 shots with No. 8 District represented by Alf Lewis and Gordon Walker (Hull Park Road) in the pairs.
They won 25-11 to cover losses in the triples for Gordon Hill, Dave Birch and Les Jackson (Heworth Conservatives) 14-11, and Derek Robinson, Alan Sharpe (Selby), Dave Clayden (Hull Road Park) Fred Hemingway (Heworth Cons), who went down 16-8 in the fours.
In division one of the Ideal Standard Persimmon Homes Bowls League's only two shots prevented Dunnington 'A' beating Holgate, who have reached the season's halfway mark undefeated. They are 15 points clear of nearest rivals Hull Road Park.
At the other end of the table wins for Harrogate and Poppleton Road WMC dragged Ainsty and Burnholme back in to the relegation zone.
In division two Dunnington 'B' had their first win of the season 7-1 against Dringhouses and followed it with a 6-2 victory over Holgate WMC.
That double brought them within reach of Heworth Cons to ensure next week's game at Glen Gardens is vital for relegation.
Games in the preliminary round of he Ideal Standard/Persimmon Homes YABA Triples event will be held on Friday, June 29, starting at 6.45pm.
