The Hunters Estate Agent York and District League marked their debut in the Leeds Area Cricket Council Knockout Competition with an eight-wicket victory over the Howdenshire Evening League at Carlton Towers.
The Howdenshire League, who won the trophy in 1999, batted first and most of their batsmen struggled as they were dismissed for 128 with only John Maddock of North Cave making an appreciable score.
He hit 70 as Robert Haw, playing on his home ground, took three for 19 while Selby's Ben Smith claimed two for 16 and Richard Medforth from Hornsea two for 20.
The York League's opening pair of Paul Wright and Barry Rudd gave their side a sound start with Bridlington's Rudd being the first to fall after making 25. Carlton skipper Wright was then dismissed for 39, but his clubmate Stuart Coleman then hit a quick-fire 43no as the York side cruised to an eight-wicket victory.
York now have an away semi-final date with the Nidderdale League.
Result: Howdenshire Evening League 128 (J Maddock 70, R Haw 3-19, B Smith 2-16, R Medforth 2-30) lost to York & District Senior League 130-2 (P Wright 39, B Rudd 25, S Coleman 43no).
