Steve Foster, who will be playing for the England and Wakes Cricket Board in Holland next week, hit a century as the Bradford League inflicted a heavy 147-run defeat on the Hunters Estate Agent York and District Senior League in the Yorkshire Senior Inter-League competition at Osbaldwick.
The Hanging Heaton star shared a first-wicket stand of 64 with Andy Bethell before being joined by Pudsey Congs batsman Barbar Butt, who launched a savage assault on the York attack. He rattled four sixes and ten fours, dashing to 77 in 74 minutes before he was caught off the bowling of Dunnington's Hamid Khan. Foster was run out for 110 but the torment continued as the visitors tallied 314 for 5.
York's reply was strangled by pace duo John Carruthers and Nick Summerscales, the hosts spiralling to 83-6.
Clifton Alliance all-rounder James Postill set about the task of adding respectability to the reply as he added 24 for the ninth-wicket with Dave Sykes, and then a further 43 for the final wicket with Paul Grewer. Postill was last out in the final over after making 53 off 55 balls in 63 minutes.
