HAVING got the majority of our votes in the general election, Tony Blair is now letting pensioners down, especially here in York. Hugh Bayley worked hard for older people helping to set up York and District Pensioners' Association when he first became an MP.
When we went to London to lobby the Government with the National Pensioners' Association, he met us and arranged a room in the House of Commons, while pensioners from all over the British Isles only met in a hall opposite the house.
At the time, as chair person of York and District Pensioners, I could always take problems to him. I'm sure he will continue to give us his advice and help and I wish him well.
