Tim Easterby can play a starring role on Knavesmire tomorrow by landing the feature race at the 31st Timeform Charity Day meeting.

The Great Habton trainer has more than one runner in the William Hill Trophy, but I fancy Ragamuffin, the mount of Willie Supple, to win the lion's share of the £60,000 in prize money.

A winner on softish ground at Redcar last season, Ragamuffin will not be inconvenienced by any easing of the going caused by the forecast further rain, and should also relish the step up to six furlongs.

Badly drawn at Thirsk two outings ago, Ragamuffin stayed on strongly until running into trouble inside the final furlong. Crossing the line in seventh place, he looked unlucky not to have been in the money.

On his latest start, at Redcar, again over five furlongs, the three-year-old ran a blinder to finish a close second to the in-form Absent Friends in an all-aged handicap.

Ragamuffin has an excellent chance tomorrow of hitting the jackpot and is napped to have the edge over Up Tempo, one of his own stablemates, and the Kevin Darley-ridden favourite Polar Kingdom.

James Given has his horses in cracking form and I would not be surprised to see the Lincolnshire trainer lift the Queen Mother's Cup - the richest race in Europe for lady amateur riders - with Hugs Dancer.

The mount of the competent Emma Folkes, Hugs Dancer got off the mark in pleasing style at Newcastle last week and looks improved since he stepped up to this distance of a mile and a half.

Jodeeka, who won in decisive fashion at Ripon last Sunday, can complete a quick double in the Charles Henry Memorial Handicap over six furlongs.

Jeremy Glover's filly has had a lot of niggling problems which have restricted her career to half a dozen outings. As a result, she is open to further improvement and, with the best of her still to come, I think John Carroll's mount will take plenty of beating.

Funfair Wane, who showed plenty of promise on his debut, will not be short of supporters in the Leonard Sainer Maiden Stakes, while the step up to nine furlongs might just be what the doctor ordered for Ballet Master in the Cadogan Silver Salver.

Mick Easterby's gelding give the impression that this longer distance will suit him and, in the hands of smart apprentice Paul Hanagan, is fancied to beat his stablemate Pension Fund, a Chester winner last month.

The useful Regatta Point looks capable of defying top weight in the Daniel Prenn Royal Yorkshire Rated Handicap.

The promising Carnival Dancer can provide Sir Michael Stoute and Kieren Fallon with victory in the Micheal Sobell Maiden Stakes, the same stable having won last year's race with Asly.

At Sandown, useful sprinter Borders can win the Alexander Forbes Conditions Stakes, and I fancy Willoughby's Boy, who has not had much luck this season, in the Tote Bookmakers Handicap in the hands of Frankie Dettori.
