YORK prides itself on being a cycle-friendly city. Hugh Bayley wishes to cut crime, yet cycle theft still remains one of York's major problems and no one seems to care. One particular cycle rack near King's Square regularly has cycles stolen, often in broad daylight. Many of my friends know someone who has lost a bike.
It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out that gangs are regularly taking these bikes from the same locations, so why aren't the police doing more? Come on Mr Bayley, do something for the man in the street.
Then again, if these thieves get caught which wrist should the judge slap? No wonder the public takes the law into their own hands.
