A scene straight out of the 18th century came to North Yorkshire today when a full-size replica of a British Man O' War sailed into Whitby harbour.
After an impressive display of its firepower as it approached its mooring, the Grand Turk tied up at Endeavour Quay, where it will be on display to the public for the next ten days.
The Grand Turk, which was launched in Turkey four years ago, is the first British frigate to be built for more than 150 years.
Seen on TV in the hit series Hornblower, the ship aims to give an authentic flavour of naval life at the time of Nelson.
Ian MacDougal, the ship's captain, said: "Although we do have the benefit of some modern technology, when sailing we really are going back over 200 years."
