Fulford Juniors Football Club has been rescued after it looked like being on the verge of folding. A new management committee has been set up to run things.
The club, encompassing sides from under-sevens to under-17s, looked set to fold this summer due to a lack of volunteers, with each team either going alone or disbanding completely.
A club newsletter sent out towards the end of the season had said the old management committee had "reluctantly decided to call it a day" due to an "overwhelming and complete lack of interest in the club by others".
However, after a special annual meeting, a new committee was formed, made up mainly of coaches and managers, to take over the running of the club.
Club spokesman Bryan McMahon said: "I am happy to say that Fulford Juniors Football Club does now have a future and to reassure people that FJFC are continuing."
The club has its own website at: www.fjfclub.f9.co.uk
