TAX advice for farmers affected by the foot and mouth crisis is available from Inland Revenue.
"There is now legislation to enable the Commissioners of Inland Revenue to defer payments of tax and to waive interest payments for agreed periods," said Dorothy Fairburn, Yorkshire regional director of the Country Land and Business Associaton (CLA).
A tax bulletin can be obtained from Sara Guerra, 1st floor, Victory House, 30-34 Kingsway, Kingsway, London WC2B 6ES. In addition, Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise staff are manning a help line to answer questions relating to tax, National Insurance contributions and VAT. The number is (0845) 3000157 and it is open seven days a week from 8am to midnight.
