IN RESPONSE to David Bell's comments about John Prescott being rude, arrogant and from Hull (Letters, June 11). Yes he is rude and arrogant but he is not from Hull. Old Two Jabs was actually born in Wales and he had no connection with Hull until he won the Labour nomination for East Hull in 1970.
There is nothing wrong with Hull, many well known and fine people have come from there, including Amy Johnson, Ian Carmichael and Maureen Lipman.
Every city has its flaw. With York it is a football team who can't get back into the second division. With Hull it is having John Prescott as its MP.
Cllr Mark Waudby,
St Mark's Grove,
Rawcliffe, York.
...WHO does David Bell (Letters, June 11) think he is? He insults the public, the Government and people from Hull. Criticism is fine but personal insults, no. Who is shown to be ruder than Mr. Bell?
Tony Ireland,
Peterhill Drive, York.
