Yorkshire timed their run chase to perfection to beat Nottinghamshire in the
Second XI Trophy one-day game at Clifton Park, York.
They got home by two wickets with five balls to spare of their 50 over ration yesterday thanks to a battling half century by Ian Fisher.
Notts batted first and were soon in trouble at 5 for 3 against some hostile Yorkshire bowling, but they pulled round to total 208 thanks to Guy Welton's 62.
He and David Roberts (42) put on 85 for the fourth wicket, while Stephen Randall chipped in with a useful 31 before Notts were bowled out for 208 in the final over.
Andy Gray had the Tykes' best bowling return with 3 for 42 while David Wigley generated plenty of pace.
In reply, Yorkshire kept up with the run rate with Victor Craven hitting 28 and John Sadler 34 but lost wickets with alarming regularity and at 119 for 6 were in a spot of bother until Fisher (55) and Gray (28) put together a match-winning seventh wicket partnership of 80, leaving Simon Guy and Tom Baker to complete the job.
Former Yorkshire spinner Richard Stemp played for Notts and collected the wicket of Yorkshire skipper Simon Widdup.
Yorkshire gained two points from the match which was their second victory in their one-day group games.
