Three members of the same family were today facing possible jail sentences for brawling in a North Yorkshire social club.
Jason Kenneth McIlwaine, 25, Kenneth David McIlwaine, 43, and Susan Jane McIlwaine, 35, all pleaded guilty to unlawful violence, as did Marie Patricia Joyce, 26, who lives with the youngest McIlwaine, and Guy Wharton, 39.
David Brooke, prosecuting, told York Crown court that all five were involved in a disturbance at Green Hammerton Social Club on August 9, during which a man called David Taylor was attacked.
Joyce, who was drunk and threw glasses, later returned to the club and threw glasses at a man called Martin Grange. She pleaded guilty to assaulting him.
Mr Brooke said the five had now moved out of the area. "Things have calmed down considerably," he said.
All five, who used to live in Ainsty View, Whixley, pleaded guilty on the basis they had only carried out certain actions in the brawl and that they had not kicked anyone.
But Judge Paul Hoffman warned them they would be sentenced on the grounds that they were all involved in the same incident, and that they could be jailed for it.
He released all five on bail while pre-sentence reports were prepared. Jason McIlwaine and Marie Joyce had admitted failure to attend Harrogate Magistrates Court for pre-trial hearings.
