St Leonard's supporters are hoping for a small screen boost in the decisive push towards their £2 million target.
They are taking the final countdown campaign to London and will be aiming for a televised show of yellow support for the hospice.
On June 20, the day before St Leonard's Hospice Yellow Day, a party of Yorkies are travelling to London by coach for a tour of the city and to watch the filming of the afternoon show Open House with Gloria Hunniford.
The party will all be wearing yellow for the occasion and are hoping the cameras might pan on to them and that St Leonard's might even get a mention by Gloria.
Organiser David Martin, of St Olaves Road, Bootham, York, said: "It's meant to be a fun day out, and at the same time raise some money for the final countdown of £55,000 to the £2 million mark. It's not much to go now until the appeal is completed and we want to do as much as we can to help. If we are all dressed in yellow, we should attract some attention and maybe even give the hospice appeal a plug on the television."
There are still some tickets left if you would like to join the party. They cost £20, with profits going to the appeal. Contact David on 01904 623510. Raffles and games on the coach trip down should boost the money raised.
Donations for the final countdown can be sent to the St Leonard's fundraising office at 14 York Road, Acomb, York YO24 4LU, or dropped off in an envelope marked for the attention of Emma Harrison, St Leonard's Hospice 2000 Appeal, at the front desk of the Evening Press in Walmgate.
Or you can call into one of the hospice shops, which are in Fourth Avenue, Tang Hall, York; York Road, Acomb, York; The Village, Haxby; and Waterloo Lane, Pocklington.
If you are organising or taking part in any activities to raise money for the appeal contact Emma Harrison in the Evening Press newsroom on 01904 653051 ext 314 or email on emma.harrison@ycp.co.uk
