Yorkshire Herald brought the curtain down on their 50-year history at a commemorative dinner at Lady Anne Middleton's Hall in York.
The club, which grew out of the machine and despatch rooms at the Yorkshire Evening Press in 1951, were the founder members of the York Sunday League.
Their chairman and one of the original members, Roy Ellwood, and his assistant Bob Readman are calling it a day and, rather than let the team fall into the wrong hands, have decided to disband the club.
Members and friends of the current Yorkshire Herald set-up are pictured at the dinner.
