Celebrating his 18th birthday, Tom Glover gifted his Whitkirk team-mates a four-wicket victory at Acomb when his hard-hitting innings turned the premier division game.
Scott Nicholls was the only Acomb batsman to play a noteable innings as he made 27no as his side struggled to 122 all out.
Two Whitkirk bowlers had identical returns with both John Colley and Glover, who answered a late call last Sunday to appear for the League side against the Bradford League, each taking 3 for 48.
Whitkirk's batsmen also fared badly with only Robert Horner standing firm as the Leeds side slipped to 70 for 6. Horner was then joined by birthday boy Glover who set about the bowling with relish as he rattled an unbeaten 34 and, with Horner remaining solid to make an unbeaten 40, Whitkirk moved into the top half of the table.
Heworth's last pair came within three runs of equalling the record tenth-wicket stand in the premier division as they staged a prolonged rearguard action against Clifton Alliance.
Second-placed Clifton were able to reach 165 for 9 against Heworth in third place thanks to Richard Musgrave's 59 and 26 from Dave Taylor with Mark Bell claiming 4 for 31 for the hosts.
Musgrave (3-35) combined with John Hunter (4-23) to reduce Heworth to 88 for 9 with only Graham Hayward 30 and Guy Wilkinson showing any batting form.
Last man Trevor Walton joined Wilkinson and the pair embarked on a defiant attempt to stave off defeat. Walton made only one solitary run in a stand of 47 before being dismissed off the first ball of the 48th over leaving Wilkinson shipwrecked on 77no.
Easingwold had their first success of the season when they travelled to Osbaldwick and recorded a seven-wicket victory which enabled them to leap-frog over their hosts.
Steve Jackson scored 34 and Dave Cooper 29 as Jason Sergeant made inroads into the Osbaldwick batting to claim 3 for 33. Late order aggression, principally from Peter Machin, who was unbeaten with 25, enabled the home side to accrue a total of 162-9.
Easingwold skipper Jonathan Marwood then contributed where he left off the previous week when he was unbeaten with 102 to make 56 as Easingwold reached 98 for 3. Then Martin Piercy, 39no, and Paul Skilbeck 38no, took the reigning champions to a pressure-relieving victory.
A weakened Thirsk side batted first at Dunnington and were soon in deep trouble as Joe Grant and Collis King had half of their batsmen back in the pavilion for only 31.
Neil Stevenson found a stoic ally in Barry Petty who resisted for 25 overs to make 16 off 100 balls before he was dismissed. Stevenson showed similar resolve as he made a dogged 39 and through their efforts, Thirsk were able to reach 116 for 9.
Dunnington utilised a revised batting order to enable some of their lower order to have time at the crease but were still able to win with some ease as Hamid Khan made 31 and Chris Burgess 49. Dunnington clinched victory at 119 for 6.
The game at Pickering was reduced to 49 overs per side during which the Crowder Brothers were able to help Sheriff Hutton Bridge post a total of 155 for 9.
Skipper Steve Crowder made 31 while elder brother Peter added 43 as Mark Shephard claimed 5 for 36.
Pickering wicket-keeper Chris Nicholls equalled the divisional record haul of six victims when he bagged three stumpings and pouched three catches. Pickering's reply had reached 45 for 1 when the rain caused the match to become the division's only weather casualty.
Ripon are now firmly marooned at the foot of the section after Russell Bilton's five wickets for eight runs in just seven overs toppled them for 95.
Jonathan Bean and Nick Hadfield put on 77 for the Woodhouse Grange first wicket before Hadfield was out for 31. Bean sailed on to an unbeaten 60 as Grange won by nine wickets.
