New Earswick skipper Dave Scott suffered personal anguish in DIVISION FIVE as he produced a fine innings against Pocklington.
Scott just failed failed to get the six needed off the final over to complete a maiden century and was, in fact, dismissed off the penultimate ball for 95.
Nevertheless his efforts, with the support of Darren Winters who made 31, saw Earswick reach 187 for 9, despite a 5 for 34 performance from Pocklington veteran Mal Harrison.
Pocklington skipper Mark Croft then showed his talents as he made 55 and, with 15-year-old Alex Downey making 31, his side worked thheir way to a comfortable draw at 151 for 7.
Selby's second XI meanwhile continue to set the pace at the head of the division, although should they win the title they would not be promoted if their seniors were to be relegated from division three.
Hovingham became the sixth team to be beaten by Selby after being dismissed for 120 at Sandhill Lane. Mark Redhead 47 and Rich Wood 41 both made good scores for the visitors, but Steve Whitehead had a good return in taking 5 for 35.
For Selby Phil Jolly was out for 32, one of their two wickets to fall, before Chris Johnson, with 57no and 14-year-old Matthew Hoyle, who made 26no, took Selby to an eight-wicket win.
Civil Service suffered another heavy defeat, their seventh out of seven, when they crashed by nine wickets to Pickering.
No Service batsman was able to reach 25 as they were dismissed for just 52 by Andy Grayson, who took 3 for 18, and Carl Suggitt who had 4 for 9.
Sessay banked full batting points at Heslington before declaring on 209-5 after 42 overs but their bid for victory was thwarted as Heslington opener Bob Taylor negotiated the extended 47 overs to make 57no and see his side to a draw at 142 for 3.
Sessay's main run-scorers were Graham Cressey with 71, Chris Till who made 46 and James Till who made 36.
