THE controversy surrounding the Bank Holiday £1000 Rods n'Sods extravaganza at Raker Lakes have been resolved.
As reported last week the event was fished under an interesting new format where anglers were awarded percentage points for their haul in relation to the total catch from each lake. It subsequently transpired that this format should have been reserved for the final and last week's contest should have been decided on the more conventional total weight method.
The problem was exacerbated because the differing formats yielded different winners.
In the end the sponsors did the honourable thing and so both Dean Smith of York (winner on percentages) and Bradford's Stef Armitage (winner on weight) were both presented with cheques for £1,0000.
Smith is no stranger to the big payouts having scooped a similar prize earlier this year on the Beverley Canal after winning the Golden Peg.
