The discovery of a set of bones in a York home turned out to be nothing more than waste from a Victorian butchers shop. Electricians uncovered the bones yesterday under the floorboards of the home, in the Minster area, and called in police and experts from the York Archaeological Trust.
But after a quick look, they were confirmed as waste from a butchers shop - probably dragged in by a rat.
Martin Stockwell, of the trust, said: "We could quickly tell they were animal bones dating back about 100 years. It is far from being an unusual find."
