For the second time in three years Sandra Grantham of the Nestl Rowntree Club has carried off the Edith Keech 2-wood Trophy.
Grantham had to overcome stiff opposition on her way to the final, including having to play her clubmate Sheen Stewart.
Anne Illingworth from Clarence Ladies, who had only been bowling for three years, had some very close games and met Grantham in the semi-final.
After a good start Illingworth led 7-2 but Grantham's line, length and experience proved too much for her opponent, who was beaten 15-9.
The other finalist was Joan Parker from Minster who played clubmate Kath Stead, conqueror of last year's winner Judy Abel in the previous round 15-8.
After Parker beat Stead 15-6, she played Stevie Green, who did not find her form at all.
In the final Grantham again allowed Parker to lead 7-3.
But she then countered strongly, playing some fine bowls to win and hoist aloft the trophy.
Edith Keech presented the trophies to the winner and the runner-up and hoped that everyone had enjoyed their sunny day on the green.
