FOOT and mouth patrols were taking to North Yorkshire's roads in an effort to halt illegal movement of livestock.
County council officers were linking up with police to stop farmers' vehicles and check they have permission to move animals.
The clampdown is the latest in a concentrated effort to stop the risk of animals spreading the disease, which included the arrest of a farmer from the district. The farmer faces charges of allowing animals to stray from his land.
