WITH reference to Ms A Hampton letter (April 28), I might point out that York has predominantly Scots and Irish immigrants, hence its unique accent and relative tolerance in these xenophobic times. As old English cities go, Royal York is as liberal as it gets these days; but the English ethnic minority is encouraged to celebrate in its own quaint way.
