Clifton Ladies scraped a 5-4 away win over Selby 77 in ladies division one of York Badminton League.
This was despite the efforts of Selby's Gayle Bradley and Julie Smythe, who scored three wins for 105-58. Clifton's Gerry Screeton and Karen Barraclough beat S Hudson and C Hubble 0 and 1.

returned 90-19 in three straight wins as York RI won 8-1 away to Clifton 'A' in men's division one. Paul Turner and Dave Fieldhouse returned 90-30 in three straight wins as York RI won 9-0 at home to Shepherds.
Paul Blackett and Mark Hopwood returned 92-53 in three wins as IT Sports won 7-2 away to Clifton 'A'. Blackett and Hopwood won 17-15, 15-7 against Richard McIntosh and Ian Shore, who scored both Clifton's wins.
Bill Marley and Pete Smith scored103-60 in three wins when Tadcaster beat men's division three leaders Huntington 5-4. Paul Moisley and Mark Tebbutt scored two wins for Huntington, but lost eight and seven to Marley and Smith.
Selby Jubilee won 5-4 away to St John's. The match was effectively won in the opening rubber in which Roy Cannon and Andy Hatfield beat Chris Miller and Gareth Murray 12 and 11. Cannon and Hatfield went on to score three wins for a 90-59 total.
In mixed division one, Nestl Rowntree gained revenge for a home defeat by Riverside when they won 8-1 at Poppleton. Craig Dobson and Kath Watt top-scored with three wins for 94-73. Riverside's Nigel Stainforth and Marg Sinclair beat Phil Grant and Helen Shepherd six and six.
Huntington 'A' gained revenge for an earlier defeat by winning 6-3 at Millthorpe in mixed division two. Huntington's Paul Moisley and Angela Hobman scored three wins for 113-73 including a 15-13, 10-15, 15-7 win over Keith Burrows and Anne Casper.
Police consolidated their second place in mixed division three with a 7-2 win away to York University Staff Club. Peter Howes and Sarah Thompson put the Police in control with three wins for 90-29. University's Simon Fletcher and Sally Locker beat Dave Todd and Carol Howes 15-1, 9-15, 15-7.
Shepherds despatched luckless Pocklington 'B' 9-0 in mixed division four. Lisa Metcalfe and Sean Ogley scored 92-57 in three wins.
Andy Hatfield and Gill Southill scored 90-58 in three wins as Selby Jubilee 'A' won 8-1 away to Selby 77 'B', whose Mark Harris and Kate Taylor beat Neil Richardson and Val Bell ten and five.
Martin Buckle and K Thompson scored 100-54 in three wins to help Pocklington 'C' win 5-4 at home to Terry's in mixed division six. T Donkin and W Arnold sealed victory with a seven and eight win over P George and F Iredale.
Fulfordgate 'B' lost 6-3 away to Selby Jubilee 'C' and then beat Terry's 7-2 to claim second place. Peter Twidell and Gill Merrick kept up their 100 per cent record for Fulfordgate with six wins and a two match total of 190-99.
