I WISH to complain about the metal grate that used to surround the base of the tree outside 3 As cycle shop in Front Street, Acomb. It is broken and caused my wheelchair to topple over backwards. I banged the back of my head on the pavement.
On Good Friday the disabled toilet in Acomb was locked because of drug abusers.
The toilet for the disabled in Acomb Gables - the only alternative - was locked because of holidays.
So I tried Acomb Working Men's Club. There was a large step to get up into the entrance then heavy, wooden push doors to get into the building and only a stand up loo after all that - talk about able-bodied chauvinism in the 21st century.
The toilets for the disabled in St Sampson's Square were out of order on April 11 and the attendant told me the same thing on April 18. There was a whole week to repair them. We do not enjoy the same priority as able-bodied people.
