ONLY two games were started in division two but both were played to completion as sides were skittled out for under 50.

League newcomers Hull Zingari were disappointed that their debut match against old East Yorkshire rivals Bridlington was totally washed out and the same fate befell the games at Harrogate, where Bubwith again missed out on playing on a county ground, and Rowntrees, where Goole should have been in opposition.

The result of the game between Castleford and Whitkirk II has not been received.

Scarborough's batsmen struggled at Civil Service as home bowler Mick Bradley claimed 5 for 48 and the Seasiders were only able to make 104 for 8. However it soon became evident that this was a more than adequate score as the Service batsmen floundered against Richard Harrison, who took 3 for 16, and Mark Fletcher, who had 4 for 14; their combined efforts sending Service crashing to 40 all out.

Clifton Alliance's batsmen fared little better at Tadcaster Magnet where the newly promoted homesters made a good start with a seven wicket win. Paul Downey was destroyer in chief as he recorded the best bowling figures of the day, putting himself in line for the Monthly Bowling Award with 8 for 26. Veteran John Wetherhill supported with 2 for 17 as the Alliance dissolved to 45. Tadcaster lost three wickets in making their successful reply with Richard Hill making an unbeaten 25.
