Hundreds of veterans from the Second World War and the Korean War gathered at Eden Camp, Malton, at the weekend for two days of reunions and ceremonial.
On Saturday, the museum hosted the "Escapers and Invaders", members of the Royal Air Force and the Army who got shot down, but managed to evade capture, or escaped from prisoner-of-war camps.
They were accompanied by some of the Belgian, Danish and Spanish people who aided their escape, including some women who would have been teenagers when they walked past the German soldiers arm in arm with British servicemen, to provide them with cover.
Yesterday, it was the turn of the North East Area branch of the British Korean Veterans' Association, who were commemorating the 50th anniversary of one of the most desperate battles of the Korean War, The Battle of the River Imjin.
The Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band led the parade and provided the music for a service, which was taken by the Rev Timothy Jones.
Steve Jaques, museum director, said: "We've had an excellent weekend and have been very fortunate with the weather.
"About 250 veterans came on Sunday with 22 standards from around the region and they were supported by the general public.
"It has been an excellent and very moving weekend."
