WITH reference to 'Who really cares about St George?' (Stephen Lewis, April 19) and 'Disco for St George' (Letters, April 24) I was amazed to see the celebrations for this date almost non-existent in our historic city.
We see several for 'Burns Night' and St Patrick's Night but weEnglish are virtually ignored when it comes to St George.
Thankfully the Blue Bell pub in Fossgate came to the rescue providing an excellent themed night based on 1940s England with music, posters and wind-up air raid alarms. All was not lost - it was a very entertaining night.
Congratulations.
