ALL-DAY bus travel across York will cost a maximum of £1 for pensioners and the disabled from Tuesday.
The special Day Rover ticket, organised by bus company First York and City of York Council, is being launched to coincide with the introduction of half-fare bus passes.
Pass holders will be able to choose the cheapest option of a half-price ticket, or unlimited travel all day for £1.
The Day Rover will be available from Tuesday and will give the bargain fare on First York buses.
Dave Pearson, the council's principal transport planner, said: "This Day Rover offer really is an excellent bonus for York Card holders and will particularly help those who need to change buses to get to places like the district hospital, Clifton Moor or Monks Cross."
Meanwhile, City of York Council has urged residents waiting for half-fare passes not to worry if they have not received them by Tuesday.
The authority has received 7,000 applications for passes, and most have already been sent out.
But sheer workload and technical difficulties mean some may be delayed.
Mr Pearson said: "We are writing to anyone who has yet to receive a card to reassure them that one is on its way.
"We are also advising people in those letters that in the event of a pass not arriving in time, they can use their existing passes for the old City of York Council concessionary fares scheme throughout the month of May."
